Julie and Paul are a major reason of why I call this place home. I’ve been in and out of Recovery for several years now. And I always lacked a solid foundation and understanding of spirituality in my life. They both have the knowledge and experience in recovery, but they LIVE and SHARE it as well. Simple things like being on time, showing up for my responsibilities, cooking… I was pushed to do the simple things, because the simple things work. I contribute a lot of my personal growth as a women to both of them. Julie has showed me how to handle conflict with grace and assertiveness, and Paul has pushed me to stay solution oriented no matter the circumstance.
I’ve had the opportunity to make several meaningful relationships with women from all different backgrounds. And even with all the differences, still find similarities and comfort. They all are supportive of each other, and stay connected in the 12 step community. Helping each other on a daily basis has given me purpose.
I love this place. It restored my faith. And I’m so grateful for the time and place I was given to just HEAL. I will always hold a great value on the program they have put together, and the principles they have pushed me to apply in my life. Through all the lows in my life, God brought me here. God has opened my eyes and put me where im meant to be. I cant thank these people enough for what they have done for me. They took me in and loved me when no one else did. They believed in me when i didn’t believe in myself. I cant express enough to them what they have done for me. They have taught me I don’t have to live that way anymore. That there is a life out there that is better. They are my family. And never once will they ever nor ever have turned me away. They have went to war over me. And I’m thankful every breathing second for this couple. And I’m proud to say that there another mom and dad for me. I wish i could express how blessed I am to have them in my life. With there help and the help of god, I’m living life again. I’m walking breathing proof that there is another way to live and that we do recover. I just completed the program and I am so thankful that I was blessed with the opportunity to be a part of their program and lives. They not only helped me get back up but they loved me when I couldn’t love myself. When I left rehab, my safety bubble, I was afraid of going back into the real world. Then I arrived at Pirate Springs’s Ocoee Mist Ranch and my fears went away. This place has saved my life and is huge in my recovery. From meetings, to Church, to just living as a family, I couldn’t ask for a better place to help me get back on my feet and transition back into society – April W.
